It takes two to Ouija. Usually one person is not able to work the Ouija. Get a friend to use it with you. A male and female is usually recommended.

Timing. Most practitioners suggest using the board at night when, they say, less interference is in the atmosphere.

Create some atmosphere. The Ouija is more fun if you darken the room and light some candles. Turn off the TV and any music to minimize distractions.

Have a seat. The two users should sit facing each other, with knees touching if possible, with the board on their laps. Don't use a table.

Decide on a questioner or medium. Even though both people can ask questions -- or anyone else in the room can -- only one of the users should be the medium (the one to formally ask questions of the board).

Place your fingers on the planchette. You and your partner should place the fingers of both hands very lightly on the planchette, or pointer.

Move it. Purposely move the planchette around in a circle on the board for a moment or two to get it 'warmed up.'

Attitude. Don't let the board control the session. The medium should begin by announcing that the session will only allow an experience that is positive or toward a higher good and that negative energies are not welcome.

Begin simply. Start with a simple question, one that requires a yes or no answer.

Be patient. You might not begin to get answers right away. Give the board a chance to 'warm up.'

Be polite. When the board starts working, thank the board or entities for showing up and communicating with you.

Don't ask stupid questions. Avoid questions such as, 'When am I going to die?' If the board answers, 'in 6 months,' you might just worry about it needlessly.

Don't ask for physical signs. Many experienced users warn against asking for physical signs that the 'spirit' is real or present.

Don't believe everything the board tells you. Just as with any other source of information, don't accept whatever the board says to be the truth or accurate.

Close the board. This is an important step. When you're done with your session, slide the planchette to 'GOODBYE' and remove your hands.

Tips:

Have someone write down the answers. Sometimes the letters spell out very quickly and it's difficult to keep track of what's being said. A third person with paper and pen can write down the message as it comes.

Play sober. You'll get better results if you haven't been drinking or smoking.

Maintain control. If the board starts giving rude, vulgar, obscene or otherwise disagreeable responses, break off the session immediately by closing the board

Ouija board isn't a game for just one person, you need at least two. Personaly I wouldn't mess with the Ouija board. I've played, it's kind of a dumb joke.

On the other hand I've heard that people can summon spirits that aren't always so friendly. You'll be trying to get in touch with grandma and BAM! You get Poltergiest! You'll be burning the Ouija board in no time.

It won't work very well if  you play it alone.  The ouija board is just a game that you can buy in most toy stores and department stores, an ordinary piece of wood or plastic or cardboard.  It is meant for two or more players so it will not work very well if you try to use it alone.  It has no supernatural powers.  The people using the ouija board make it work through ideomotor movement.  It plays on your mind and imagination and your susceptibilities and beliefs and fears.  It can be scary because the imagination is a powerful thing, and can make you believe just about anything.  

You can buy them at Toys R Us, at Walmart, Target, at most department stores that sell board games, at toy stores, on ebay and at amazon.com. Occasionally you see them in thrift stores and second hand stores. Well I have always believe that the ouija board is evil. I am a christian and i have taken classes for that kind of stuff. The Ouija board opens the door to all the bad stuff in your life. It brings demons and bad fortune to you. If you use it i is probably that bad things are going to happen. Its practically telling the devil here i am. So my advise is not to use it. Or even think about it. so i hope you take it into consideration.

You can purchase one at any toy store.  I bought mine at Benny's.  The ouija board is not dangerous as long as you recognize that it is not a toy.  it is a device to communicate with spirits and you should treat them with respect.  You can actually make your own board with a piece of poster board and a shot glass.  

Ouija boards are not evil.  It is just a misconception.

I don't generally use the board alone because the planchette, the pointer thing, moves slowly, but I have not had any issues with it.  Sometimes it is just an annoying waste of time.

I do not recommend you to mess with Ouija boards. A couple weeks ago my friends made one and did this while we were on vacation and it was INSANE! The "cursor" thing was going really fast and kept shooting off the board and then one of my friends, who was one of the girls using it, looked pale white and told us her hands and arms were completely numb...she went back to "normal" a few minutes later, but told us that she is certain that a spirit had passed through her body...she felt it. This friend is not the type of person to make this up or joke about that kind of stuff. We all felt the presence and vowed never to mess with that stuff again. It was one of weirdest things I've ever seen and I think the home made ones are more powerful, because the "toy" ones never worked in the past.

I have been told by many people, to not use one.  When you ask a spirit to use the board, you do not know what kind of spirit you are inviting.  They could easily lie to you, the could like to play games with you.  I have heard that the board can open us to the spirit world, but can not close it.  So as long as you have it you are inviting negative energy in.

You will probably try one anyway so try to use it the right way.

Pray before and after you use it.

When you are done, tell the spirit you are done, thank them, and ask them to leave.

Home made are the best ones to use, get a piece of paper big enough to write all the letters in a circle (with comfortable room for you to move around in) and yes/no, maybe and stop in each of the corners.  Use Dark ink and write clearly, they have to be able to read it from the other side after all.  Then you can use a shot glass turned upside down for a marker or any really light weight item you can find that would glide across the paper.

When its all ready wait for midnight and clear your mind, say a prayer or whatever you do.  Then ask your questions, best to ask a specific person or ask if anyone from the otherside wants to chat.  Put your fingers on the floaty item and wait for it to start moving.  Probably going to be you pushing it the first few times.

If you want to really freak yourself out get a mirror set it up so that you can look into it without seeing your reflection and have the room lite only by candle light.  Hahaha, but when you mess your pants dont blame me.

You seem to indicate that you have questions that you want answered. Forget the ouija board- it's designed to react to people with imaginations. If you really want to get results- trust yourself !

Try this- observe a situation in which you know that there will be an outcome...results one way or another. Try predicting what that outcome will be to the situation unfolding.  When you begin to realize that you are thinking through the outcome and it is actually coming pretty close to how you were mentally calling it- you will begin to trust more in your predictions. Theres only one thing that can look as though it can get in the way- that word is' assuming'. Important-Keep all your inner thought predictions to yourself.  Before you know it you will be on your own- trusting your instincts and not relying on a piece of pressed board with a plastic felt posted thing doing the work for you .
