I want to use my hdtv as my laptop screen?

i have a VGA cable output on my laptop and a "vga pc in" input do i just need a vga cable or what else do i need...what type of vga cable if thats what i need...thanks and plzz help

  1. You answered your own question.  Get a long VGA cable.


  2. yes, a VGA cable will do. (Make sure you buy the correct 's*x' on each end of the cable. male/male, female/female, male/female, depending on your laptop and TV.)

    BUT...

    That will give you a picture, no sound, not an HD picture.

    If you have an HDMI or DVI connector on your laptop, and one on your TV, connecting them will give you HD video and sound. (Although the cables are much more expensive.)

    If this is for a presentation and HD is critical, you may wish to check on this option.

    If you want sound and VGA, you'll need an audio connector 3.5mm to dual RCA, or 3.5mm to 3.5mm.

    Use the headphone jack from your laptop, and the audio input jack(s) on your TV.

    Regardless of your choices, You may need to select external video/audio, or something like it, on your TV's Menu, before you can see/hear what your laptop is sending.

  3. you just need a vga cable. the end of the cable is usually blue and they are pretty cheap.
