but not sure if you can take your car on all the trains they dont look big enough.

You can take your car on the Eurotunnel trains (but not on Eurostar). Some European counties have motorail services where they Will take your car by frieght and you take the train. But the principle of using Rail Europe is you don't need your car, you go by rain. Hire one locally if you want to get to out of the way places.
