I want to visit Tamil Nadu this year but don't know anybody there?

I have been several times in Goa, but this year I want to visit and discover Tamil Nadu for 3-6 months, and would like to stay with an Indian family to enrich my experience in Tamil family-life and customs. Can you help me to find contacts in Tamil Nadu? I'm a retired high-school teacher and just turned 69 years of age and still eager to know the world.

I dont know about home stays in Tamil Nadu, but you can get hotel accommodation at all budget ranges. For safety and good location, choose Hotel Tamil Nadu which is run by the tourist dept. you can book online at the tourist dept. website and they give good off season discounts. You will love Tamil Nadu, it has a very fine, rich and distinct heritage. The people are mostly cultured and courteous, on the conservative side, with a healthy respect for traditions . The ancient temples are architectural masterpieces, the beaches are good as is the rich wildlife and unique biosphere regions in the mountains of the Nilgiri and Dindigul district ( unique combination of high altitude above 2000m - low latitude - 11N). I wish you a pleasant and rewarding stay.

You would not find the typical tamil family culture in Chennai or main cities of tamilnadu. You would have to go to small town or villages and hopefully befriend someone there and get to stay at their place. You ar 69 and still eager to know the world .... its gud that you are able to go around.
