  1. not at all.  it was such a major part of our history and is a fascinating subject.  You could maybe compromise and just visit some of the main ones??

  2. Definitely not strange.  I visited Mauthausen in Austria and it was a very somber experience.  I'm not sure I would want to visit all of the camps in one trip, as I was pretty emotional after the one.  But there is nothing wrong with wanting to learn more about history, the good and the bad.

  3. I would personally LOVE to visit the concentration camps. I've never been able to do so, and it's actually something that I want to do very badly in my lifetime, it's such an important part of history, and being a history buff, it's right up my alley. To me, it wouldn't be any different than visiting other sites that tragedies took place, such as Ground Zero in NY, which I would love to do as well and haven't had the chance to do so as of yet. So to answer your question, I don't believe it's strange at all, I actually commend you for exploring the feelings and emotions that such a visit would create, and facing the history that devestated so many.

  4. i think that is very brave of you. i have seen enough real footage of concentration camps. i think i would find it too upsetting. if its something you feel you have to do then do it.

  5. I don't think it's strange at all. Having an interest in History is a wonderful thing. I wanted to do the same thing, mainly because I feel so terrible about what happened. They're still open so History buffs,holocaust families, and people like you and me can pay our respects.

  6. it;s not strange, but i would definetely take someone dear to me with me..scary(after watching schindler's list) and emotional...good luck.

  7. Yes it is very strange!

                               A couple of the main ones I could understand, but all of them?

                                  I have seen one I got the message I don't want to see anymore.

                                  I was also on holiday in the Channel islands one time and made a visit to the hospital that the Germans built into the side of a mountain, it's now a museum piece, all sorts of memorabilia in there, a good reminder of what occupation was all about!  Those visits  beat watching any movies or documentaries about it all!

                                    You can actually 'feel' the atmosphere.

    Not a pleasent feeling at all!

  8. No, that's something that I've always wanted to do myself! :}

  9. no, not at all.  It is good to see history like that and feel the emotions from the event so it never happens again.  I actually want to go and see them as well.  I always have since I first learned about them.
