i want to volunteer at a charity shop where i live. there are like three that are looking for volunteers but im only 14. do you think i would be allowed to work there?

  1. probably, you sound as if you'd be perfect for them, try an animal charity shop - if there is one as they are used to younger volunteers.


  2. You could always ask at one - but you'll only get a job sorting through people's cast-offs - you won't be allowed to deal with potential customers.

  4. You can do voluntary work aged 14 but there is a limit to the number of hours you can work.

    There is nothing to stop you going to a local charity shop and asking, They are always looking for volunteers and it's good work experience.

  5. Ask them. Most charity shops need volunteers, and shop work is not prohibited for children under school leaving age. See the link for details.

    There are two problems I can see. As you are volunteering you may not be affected by the employment law limits on people under 18, so you might want to be careful how many hours you agree to work (especially around exams). Also, their insurance may state that there is a age limit on volunteers. If neither of these are issues, I don't see why they wouldn't accept you.
