  1. i would get a real one....it will look much nicer.  your florist should be able to recommend and prepare something that will last you through the reception.  my s-i-l had a gardenia in her hair for the reception, and it was absolutely stunning.  it took quite a few bridesmaids to keep it in place though, and we all just kept an eye on it throughout the reception to make sure it was in place and still beautiful!

  2. Go for real! I love real flowers, your hair will smell sweet too. You freeze the flower i guess before you use it . A lot of my friends wear real flower in their hair when they go out to weddings and stuff and it'll last hours without wilting. You should ask some florist people to give you some spray or anything to keep your flower from dying in your hair.

  3. I don't think it will get messed up, just as long as it's fresh cut.  I'd go with real, fake would look stupid.

  4. I was just at my cousins wedding and she had an orchid in her hair.  But yes as you would expect it didn't stay perfect the whole time.  So we had three or four of the flowers with a hair pin made up.  Then I changed it for her whenever it looked a bit messed up.

Fresh flowers look much nicer and its not a huge deal to keep.  Just ask your bridesmaid or mother to keep an eye on yours and they will take care of it.  Enjoy and congratulations.

  5. Your florist can prepare a real flower to live pretty long for your hair.  Good choices are Orchids, or stephanotis. These are hearty flowers.   Gardenias are very sensitive and turn brown with any human touch. Don't freeze it!  That is soo bad for the flower.

  6. I would definitely have your florist prepare this, they can even attach to a clip/hairpin for you, they should be able to wrap it similar to a boutonniere so it will last. They also can tell you which flowers do well, for example Gardenias wilt when they have human touch on their petals but orchids are pretty sturdy.

  7. Talk to your florist but a fresh live flower should hold up through your reception/  Perhaps the florist can do something to let it last longer like add a little water container at the stem

To be certain an artificial bloom will not change no matter how long you wear it or what you do to it.  Take a look around, there are the cheap ones and then there are those that I defy you to tell they are artificial even close up

I am like you in prefering the fresh flower but for pictures this important  I think I would go for the artificial, but make it a good one.

  8. Definitely go real!  Aren't fake flowers bad luck or something?
