I want to withdraw from san jose state university i have fafsa will i owe anything to fafsa if i withdraw.?

ok so school starts on the 25th of august i want to withdraw today. will my fafsa be affected. it says i will recieve 18k of help. i still havent recieved any of it. i already registered for classes but classes don't start until the 25th of august will i have to pay fafsa anything. by the way the last day for full refunds on fees is august 17th.

  1. If you have not signed any of your promissory notes (loans), or paid any of your tuition bills, then you should not owe any moneys.  You will need to contact the Admissions/Financial Aid Office to let them know you will not be attending so they can cancel your aid.  As school has not started, your money has not been dispersed, so this shouldn't be a problem, but it's best to call (as a courtesy) to make sure your account will be closed.


  2. I agree with Lady J.'s answer.

    Do contact San Jose State U. ASAP and stop the process on your financial aid.  Most times the Admissions office, registrar and financial aid office do not communicate in a timely manner.  

    Since this is a busy time for the school it may be weeks before financial aid learns you are not attending this semester.  By that time your financial aid may be processed and waiting for you to sign the promissory note.  Have a great year.
