I am planning on moving to London In February 2009 with a 2 year working-holiday visa. I have never lived in another country besides my own (canada), and want to know what other peoples experiences have been. Did you find it difficult to adjust? What are some good neighborhoods to live in? Do Londoners like canadians? Any suggestions and inofrmationw ould greatly be appreciated.

  1. The vast majority of Londoners are not prejudiced so don't worry about not being liked because of being Canadian!

Be warned the London is ridiculously expensive though - rents are insane if you want to live anywehere in town, public transport is expensive, eating out is expensive. I would have a think about whether you want to be in London or in another city...Bath, Bristol, Brighton?  All of them are a more manageable size and a bit more affordable perhaps.

  2. Don't go to London.

It blows however, in saying that am Scottish and of all english places av been ta, I hated London.

Everyone is up there own arses and dinna smile.

Aint herd anyone slag of a canadian afore in the UK.

We diss the pols and croats.

  3. Being Canadian is not an issue, there are a lot of different cultures in London, as you hopefully know. 300+ languages are spoken.

I recommend you VISIT it at least, before coming.

As for prices, South and East are cheapest. But VISIT LONDON first.

PS. It wont be difficult to adjust, I used to live in Toronto. People will be less friends but not necessarily in a bad way.
