  1. First of all you should pat yourself on the back because taking on a job is quite the responsibility!!!  Wanting to be independent and earn your own money is such a great thing.  Being thirteen at times can be hard because you now are considered a teenager but at the same time you are soo young that you cannot do some things older teenagers can do.  Just remember you can work all your life and there isn't the need to hurry and work.  There are many ways though you can earn money.  Do you get an allowance?  Maybe your parents would consider giving you an allowance for doing a certain amount of work a week around the house.  Also, you could take on a paper route that would not only give you money but exercise and some time outside.  Either way you need to talk with your parents and stress to them how important this is to you.  Give them some ideas on some things you want to purchase with the money.  Sometimes if you spend responsibily then they might reconsider.  Also, mention to them that you could open a savings account and put soo much towards savings.  I wish you the best and have a great life!!!!!!!!!

  2. You can't work until your 16. In some states 15. However, at 13 you can do jobs such as babysitting, pet-sitting, etc.

  3. maybe they don't trust you yet

you could show them how responsible you are by doing your chores correctly & offer them help whenever they need it

  4. At 13 there are a lot of jobs that your parents may agree to allow you to have...My son and daughter both have jobs they are 14/15 yrs...sooo you could babysit, mow lawns, do odd jobs for seniors, and ...if you parents still do not want you to work outside the family...perhaps they have jobs for you to do around the house.... go prepared, show your parents what you will do as a everyday chore, like the dishes, your room etc. then ask if there are jobs they will pay you to do... if your parents see that you are responsible at doing the things they pay you for, they will see that you are serious and maybe they will let you get a part time job away from home...

AND yes there are regulations with regards to your age when applying for a job, I do believe that MacDonald's hires at around the age of 15...not sure but a simple phone call could answer that...unfortunately at 13 there are certain child laws that protect children from working at a young age...otherwise if there were no laws we would have tooo many children in the work force doing mature jobs that need more education or technical abilities, even you body size can play a part, can you imagine if a 9 yr old took your order at MacDonald's?  lol that would seem right huh?  So enjoy your youth now and really think about what kind of jobs you could do for your parents...don't grow up too fast...you will be old enough for the bigger jobs in time...Good Luck, hope I have helped you.  TC Tami

  5. You can't work until you are 16 years old.  If you want to work, try doing work at home and ask them to pay you.  Or you could do jobs you don't have to fill out a job application for, such as mowing lawns or babysitting.

  6. you can.. but its hard to find a job at this age.. there are jobs available tho... u can try the library or sign up for SYEP which is a summer job.. so nexxt summer if u want a job u can sign up for SYEP... and dont expect to make much money because ur only 13 and u'll only get minimum wage   which is about 7/hr
