I want to work for a fledgling Electric or alternative fuel vehicle company. Any suggestions ?

My expertise is environmentalism, and Marketing and sales. I've applied to Tesla and Phoenix, Both are well staffed.. so chances re remote

any suggestions ?

lets get together and make our own company since its at the fledgling stage there should be some way to get a grant or something of that nature or maybe we can find a sugar daddy

Keep trying

polish up your people skills and visit trade shows and other venues where alternative energy geeks will gather.

In the case of the real start-up sorts of companies,  be prepared to work for deferred compensation, that is stock, or maybe simply delayed payment of your salary while the company grows.

Some old geeks who worked for APPLE when they where first getting started are VERY well off right now because of the compensation in stock that they received early on.
