I want to work for a magazine. help?

im looking to apply for an internship for SEVENTEEN. however, i have never worked for a magazine previously, and i want to try it out. i am looking for information on how to apply, and a good way to plan my resume. any help?

  1. Have you done any writing for your local newspaper?  They are a good start (also for your resume).  Usually you can try getting the magazine and somewhere near the front inside there is usually an address and information on where to submit articles, columns, artwork, etc.  And you can try sending in a regular article and see if they like your work.  

    Take a book or two, or even three out at your local library on magazine writing - this will give you an idea of what you can do along with getting your resume ready too.  

    There is a book you can go to the library for it's called Writer's Market.  There's the website but I'm pretty sure you have to join to get the information on-line( there is a free 30 day subscription and then your get billed something like 3.95 a month and can cancel at anytime).  It gives you all the publishing companies, magazines, etc. and will give you the addresses, and whether or not they except unsolicited works.

    Also, try going to writers digest website for some information.    

    Internships are great - if you are in college see if they have any contacts with any of the magazines.

    It's easiest to write in areas of information where you already have knowledge too.
