I want to work for a venture capitalist?

I know I have very particular skills. I have used them for several employers. For those familiar with Strengths Finder (www.strengthsfinder.com) my analysis confirmed these skills, including Strategy, Intellection, Futuristic, Learning, and Analytical.

I have used these skills to help my employers break through their plateaus in growth by understanding what the key constraints have been in their business. I employ the Theory of Constraints in my work.

Unfortunately I keep getting dumped by employers once things look good again. "Why keep paying him now that we're making money again?"

I'm tired of it. I want some consistency. One month I'm making six figure salary, the next I'm unemployed.

I would like to work for a venture capitalist by helping them turn around investments that are struggling. I know my skills are applicable.

But I don't have a clue how to find such investors or communicate the effectiveness of my work when my employment record looks like I'm inept.

Any ideas?

  1. You'll really need to get in front of head hunters and explain your story to them, because 1.) VC firms don't look on Monster - they tend to recruit from business schools, from the industries they focus on, or from other VC firms, and 2.) a head hunter will be able to help you reshape your resume so that a VC firm might be interested.

It will also depend on your age / current position / seniority, but firms like oxbridge, cpiny, dynamicsny might be helpful.
