  1. Haven't done it myself, but I've chatted with a few.  It's not bad; it's a lot more like a land-based job than most crew positions in that the pay is somewhat attractive to Americans / Canadians / Europeans.

As a "staff" member you do get the option of hanging out in guest areas when you're off-duty, and the accommodations aren't as bad as for other types crew.  I believe DJs get their own cabins on many lines.

A couple of things to be aware of:

    - It's not just DJ'ing.  You'd also be part of the general entertainment team and help out with activities throughout the day.

    - The job is 7 days a week.

    - Contracts last several months; I think 4 is the minimum

    - You are NOT allowed to get too friendly with guests.  You can talk, but even dancing with guests can get a crew member in trouble.

    Hope that helps.

  2. nope

  3. I've been thinking about this, too.  I've heard and read that its a fun way to meet people and see the sites, but that it's work so less fun than going on a cruise.  Also, most cruise ship workers share a cabin and they can be really small.  The pay is so-so, but since you don't pay for meals or rent you can save a lot of money if you don't have a lot of bills or rent to pay on land.

  4. First of all its a work not a a pid holiday. That means long hour and working when the party is I guess and sleeping when at port. Also most ship is on fairly repeative routes that reapetes every 7 or 14 nights. There are exceptions but thats a general rule. But I dont know weather or not you jump on and off ships so to say.

DJ sounds like a much more public job than one at the radiostudio. So if you like being a dj at the nightclub its fine for you.

  5. It is a lot of work.  It may look fun from the eyes of a guest on a cruise but it is a lot of work.  You are away for wicked long periods of time and you get little vacation.
