  4. I know this is a question and answer format, but I would ask you why you don't want to teach. There are many good examples listed here. My mother retired as a school social worker after 30 years. My family is full of teachers. Several left teaching to get into other careers and wished they had stayed.

    I have been a teacher for 7 years now and I can't see ever doing anything else. It is the most rewarding thing I have done in my life. There is a lot of college involved, but college is a lot of fun too. If you put forth the effort to get fully licensed, you will make more money, your job will be more stable, and you will get a lot more respect.

    That isn't to undermine the importance of all the support staff and aids. It is just a fact of life that they would probably agree with.
