    You can work with the homeless, but why not also work to stop homelessness,

  2. good for you!why not try a night shelter,somewhere like cyrenians,simon community etc,look on local volunteer sites in your area,there are plenty groups and shelters who are always looking for volunteers to help out,some religious communities also help homeless people,you will prob start as unpaid volunteer but you can get valuable experience in working in this field, good luck!

  3. Do you have a local Salvation Army? they do a lot of work with the homeless. Also ask at your local council or social services if they know of any organisations that you can join as a volunteer.

  5. Homeless people usually dont have jobs but I am sure they wouldnt mind if you set up alongside them with a sign and a hat.

  10. You could start by volunteering.  It's  great way to get to understand some of the issues and get some practical experiece before aplying for paid jobs.

  11. Ask a homeless person, while you are helping them personally.  They should know about the local resources available, more so then folks in other locations making best guess suggestions on Yahoo Answers.

  12. Start with a local homeless shelter that can be found in the your local phone book.  Also check with churches, food banks, and community out reach programs. These places will lead you to a lot of  people that will appreciate your help!

  14. I recommend talking to The Salvation Army and The Red Cross.  Both organizations have an extensive history of dealing with people in dire need and could probably offer you solid direction.

    check with your local town hall to see if there are any volunteer programs available for you to get involved in.   . . ..  and get ready.   it's very very very painful work.   there are people who just keep making the same harmful decisions, no matter how hard you try and help them.
