  1. Not very much. You should refer to your state teaching salary schedule.

  2. 30-40k, but you can get lucky, get a good location, or move yourself up.

  3. Depends usually little especially catholic school.

  4. If you're willing to work in areas where there is a teacher shortage, you may find the pay to be higher.  This could be either in a region of the country which needs more teachers or perhaps in specific subjects which are attracting fewer qualified applicants.  Of course, advanced degrees also merit more pay.  In addition to the salary, remember there are many other benefits to a teaching career.  The best teachers usually have a love of learning and truly want to encourage others to succeed.

There used to be a joke that said the three best things about teaching were: June, July, and August.  It's probably more true to say the best things are the personal satisfaction and maybe a few fringe benefits like health care, retirement packages, and travel opportunities.

  5. You are kidding, right?

Starting salary for a public school teacher in the USA is anywhere from $25,000 to $50,000 a year. When you retire in 35 years, you should be making double that. You make in a year about what some MLB pitchers make in an inning of work.
