they should have mentioned it when i first signed up for 401k. so i knew upfront that my increase would be including that. If i am vested in 5 years in order to get their contribution i may not even stay at the firm that long. I understand medical but i am only getting 2% added to my salary. My cost of living goes up way more than that. What is the point of working soo hard if that is all i will get?

  1. 100% of the money that comes out of your pay to be put into your 401K is always vested.

Any money that your company matches, will be vested according to their rules.

When you leave, you will be able to transfer your contributions and gains to an IRA or another company's 401K, but not any money that they have put it, which is not vested.

  2. The salary for your particular position only goes up that much; you are entirely at liberty to do a good enough job that you get promoted to a higher paying position, are you not?
