  1. Hurricane season lasts from June through November in Cancun, roughly 6 months out of the year. That being said, most major hurricanes strike between September and October, but they can strike before and after. I would not worry about hurricanes, especially because even if one does hit, the people there are experts on how to deal with such events. They proved this, especially with how they dealt with Hurricane Wilma, the tourists were well taken care of and protected.

  2. my husband and i just booked a trip to mexico aug. 27th-sept 1st. we purchased our trip through apple vacations and they offer an insurane package in case anything like that were to happen, we will get a refund.  there is probably a very small chance that anything would happen but the insurance is nice to have!

  4. I go to Cancun every year in September... which is hurricane season and I love it!! For one there is way less tourists during hurricane season which is nice because usually that area is packed with tourists...you get to experience more of the local life. The weather is not as hot and humid as it usually is. The chances of a hurricane strong enough to cause any damage (like Wilma) to hit there again are slim. Last year we had a hurricane scare and it went in the other direction. All we got was big waves.  Plus... you can always check the weather reports before you go...

  5. It could be but I would worry more if you were going on CARNIVAL CRUISES, they really really suck. Fly or swim, you will be way better off and much happier when you get there.

  6. No - chances of anyone area getting hit are less than 1%.

If you look it up you can find the exact figures but baisically if you figure Cancun gets hit or brushed with a Huricane once every 3 years. If you figure a huricane would effect Cancun for 1/2 a week and huricane season is about 6 mounths that gives you .5 week out of 78 weeks or about a 0.64% chance you will be affected.

Book late and check the weather before you go or get insurance, but don't worry about it too much.

  7. Rockin' Mel S has a good answer. My only modification would be that the vast majority of hurricanes happen in either August or September, so the chances would be higher in those months.

A better reason not to go to Cancun in August is that it is unbelievably hot.

  8. I think that in Cancun you need to worry about your personal safety for other reasons than hurricanes.
