  1. I am not sure what exactly you are asking? Its a very open ended question could you be more specific next time you ask? At risk of answering what you probably already know.....

    ...... South is the first choice for having a house facing. (east is the second choice).  This allows you to have the most amount of daylight going in through your windows. Depending where you live and especially in southern climates you want to have deciduous trees on the south side (or in your case the front lawn)  to help filter out direct sun so you can reduce the amount of air conditioning energy that you use. A good choice would be oak, or maple trees that have broader branch spreads and create a lot of shade.
