I'm an avid runner ranging from either a few miles, or sprints on the treadmill, and my old sneakers are about to be ready for the trash, so I was wondering if anybody new of the best brands or specific shoes for this type of activity. Thanks!

  1. You cant go wrong with Nike.  They are kinda pricy but very Comfortable and last a long time.

  2. Nike and Asics

  3. Saucony

  4. Hello Nerdy Girlie,

Running shoes are very important.  I am glad that you are taking the time to do your research.  Please visit http://www.therunningadvisor.com/running... for some great advice on choosing a quality running shoe.  Good luck to you!

  5. Nike Air. they're great! :]

  6. nike rivals and asics are the best out there

  7. asics

  8. asics-pegasus

    good one

or download a brainiac science abuse podcast as about 6 months ago they did a special on trainers, really useful!

  9. New Balance is very good, and focuses on runners as their top clients, but i personally use Nike

  10. asics gel

  11. i started with nike, after 3 months they wore down and were very uncomfortable... i do alot of long distance running and i was referred to mizuno's and it made a world of difference... i have been with them for 4 months now and they feel as comfortable as the first day i got them... they provide me with long lasting support and are also super light weight. no matter what brand you decide to go for, try them on and make sure they fit correctly because you do not want to develop back aches and pain in the arch of the foot. if you are going to be a consistant runner, your shoes become a part of you so comfort and stability are the #1 for you

  12. This greatly depends on the distance inwhich you run!

I've been training for the national team of malawi for over three years now...... i'm a sprinter however don't be fooled the preseason is long distance and cardio work!!! on occcassion 5-10 km jogs in a session.

This is made more strenuous by the country not being able to afford grass or turf track so we run on the gravel like ground that provides no grip and increases the risk of injury through there being loose stones every were.

when i started, i bought nike joggers the ones that have the very soft sole (helps in impact) to this day these shoes are still worn by I as for them still being still in  running condition. Since i bought them i have had not one problem or foot related injury. one of my spike shoes is nike the Nike Zoom Superfly R2 Spikes Red for my competitions (both national and international) and my training spikes are that are also Nike (not sure what there called) but i trust them in my training sessions that make the differance between winning and loosing. the point i'm making is that since i started nike been the shoe i've bought and hold my future to!

however before i took running seriously i went through many shoes..... reebok, new balance, asics etc what i found was that  new balance shoes tended to last however were really heavey in comaprison to nike and asics. The reebok and asics shoes were more troublesome as for the plastic stuff on the bottom breaking off and the sides of the shoes tearing etc (i put my shoes through h**l;)

why nike: they last, find the right size and pair and there comfortable, there often very light and durable and often reduce high strain and impact on the knees.

why not the other brands: don't really last, often heavey, brea normal;ly around the jointed areas.

REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

  13. I've ran in Nike, Asics, Sauconys, Mizunos and Brooks.

I've been most successful with Mizunos Nirvana/wave runner and Brooks Adrenaline.  This does not mean its good for you.  You are best to go into a specialty running store and get fitted for your gait/foot type/running type/suprination.under or overpronation/etc.  They will analyze your running, your old shoes and fit you what works best for you.  If its too costly, check on ebay and get your shoes online (make sure you get your size, brand and style #)

It is worth it, the better the fit for you, the less you are proned for injuries.  Here is a link on a shoe guide:

    Good luck and keep running!

  14. My personal preference is Saucony, their light and comfortable.

  15. People can offer suggestions, but you need to try them on and see which brands/models fit you best.  If you go run a 5K, you'll notice most people in Asics, Saucony, or New Balance.  All great brands.  Road Runner Sports has information that can help you pick a particular model, but they can be found cheaper if you look around.  I think what's most important is that you replace them a few times a year so you avoid injury.  Don't wait until they are ready for the trash!

  16. It truly depends on you. Asics are great sprinting shoes, as well as Nike's. For Long distances, I'd recommend Brooks*personally.* My friends claim that Mizunos are very good too.

If you're looking for something cheap and long-lasting, go for New balance. I have yet to find a rip in a pair of my New balances *that have endured snow, sleet, rain, mud, shine, for over 600 miles*. Watch out, though, as they lose support throughout the lifetime. They're good cheapos.

Not to advertise, but if you live in the Cleveland area expecially, go to a Fleet Feet. They really know what they're doing and set the right shoe for you.

    Happy Miles Ahead!
