I've always wanted to work in the office, like doing paper work, get things done on the computer, have my own work desk. And get pay more than what I get right now. Instead of doing general labor for many years.. Where do I started? To get the experience of working in the office, or what do I have to study? I'm not talking about 4 yrs of college because that will takes forever.. Is a short course of study will help me get a better job? Where do I start? Thank you for all answers.

  1. The more education you have, the better a job you can get.

  2. Firts, Congrats to you and wanting more for yourself!  Having said that, your goal seems very general and broad....

What kind of office/desk job do you want? Bookkeeper? Receptionist? Accounting Clerk? Adminstrative Assistant?

What industry to do you want to work in?... Banking, Healthcare, technology, Recruitment?

What kind of company do you want to work for? Small Firm, Large oraganziation?

All this can affect what kind of education you'll need...

Its best to think thrugh this thoroughly to make sure you get the job you really want the first time... I would first suggest taking a personality/career test somewhere on line. They are free and can give you some insight into your strengths and weaknesses, as well as your professional interests. You may discover something you like that you didn't even know!.....

Otherwise, I would suggest -- ABSOLUTELY -- taking some computer skill courses, like Microsoft Word and Excel, Even Quickbooks. Many office jobs will require that your proficient in this programs before they'll even consider bring you in for an interview. If you got these skills down, your halfway there!

    All the best!

  3. Any education at all will help you get a better job. If you want to skip over the education and just get your foot in the door for an office job, you could try looking for clerk or assistant positions. Try looking on craigslist.org in your area.
