This totally random question just popped into my head. Is it possible in Canada, for a kid (and by kid i mean anywheres from 9- 14 years old) to purchase a flight ticket, and successfully board a plane without any adult recognition? I think I may already know the answer to this but if you are bored please answer this question.

- There goes my imagination again. Lol.

Thanks

  1. No, not for quite a long time. h**l, I was a teen in the 70s, and even I needed to get a parental notification to the travel agent, even though I was paying for the ticket.

No one had to meet me at the gate or anything, but the folks knew where I went.

  2. It's not likely possible.  Most airlines will require children of that age to register as unaccompanied minors, which will require a parent or another adult named by the parent to pick up the child at the other end.

  3. No, especially if you are leaving Canada. When a minor, you have to be able to prove that you are allowed to be flying alone.

  4. My dad is a Pilot and the answer is No.

They could theoretically buy a ticket with their parents credit card and get to the air port and all that but you can not get to your gate or board an airplane without a parent if you are under the age of .... it's either fifteen or sixteen. I'm pretty sure it's sixteen though. But if you are between 16-17 and your parents are dumb I bet you could pull it off. OR you could pay an extra hundred before that to be escorted by a flight attendant but I am pretty sure your actual guardian has to do that.
