So awhile ago I had a buyer on ebay file a "significantly not as described" claim against me. He bought $160 worth of a perfect mp3 player in addition to several accessories and extra items. Turns out this was a scammer, and when paypal refunded him all of his money (including shipping fees) all he shipped me back was a broken mp3 player missing all the accessories and items! I appealed the claim decision, and paypal sent me an email telling me to ship the items to them and they will refund me all of the money that I lost out on. They said I had 10 calendar days from when they emailed me (August 10).

So my question is this: Do I have 10 days to ship the broken mp3 player, or do I have 10 days for paypal to receive the item or else they will not grant me the appeal? And if all I send back is the broken mp3, will it be sufficient proof for them to grant the appeal?

Also, do you think paypal will ever send me back the mp3 if they do decide to refund me my money? Or will I never see it again?

Please help, and thank you for your time!

  1. Usually 10 days mean 10 days from postmark date.    In all honesty, it kind of sounds like a pretty intelligent scam, and you might be screwed.
