Where are you? I'm in England...over here you need qualifications as well as experience.

You may be able to get volunteer position whilst you train at college or uni (such as Open University) or a small paid position as you train for NVQ.

However to become a 'teacher' rather than practitioner you will need degree or speciliast training.

If you have excellent English skills, you might consider looking into teaching or being an aid in an ESL (English as a Second Language) classroom.

To teach in most states, you must be certified or hold similar qualification.

You must check with the Education web site for the state in which you wish to teach.

With no college background, you probably can not serve as an assistant in a public school.  In a private school, it completely varies based on the state and then any additional requirements from the school.

If you have a degree you can try Lateral entry here in the US while you go to school for certification, if not then you can always be a teachers assistant while you go to college to get a degree in elementary education
