I seriously want braces but I am concerned about the pain and the time span for results.

  1. Oh Lord! I have the exact situation as you!

There are two ways to arrange your jaw.

Surgery -> if you have MediCal; you might be able to have surgery for no charge. it should cost 4,500 dollars other wise [the lowest I believe]

Braces -> MediCal will not pay for the expenses unless your teeth are really really bad; the price is about 3,500 to 4,500 dollars. The time span will be 30 months.

I chose to have braces because if you want surgery, you have to wait until last minute for your jaw to be fully developed.

Braces aren't that painful but the first two days, Tylenol is your best friend :]
