  1. There is a great group there called Adoption Identity Movement.

Also, a fab counseleor in that area named Linda Yellin.

    Good luck.

P.S. Jessica's info is wrong.  All you'll get from the agency is non-identifying info.  MI is a 'closed' records state.  The state of Michigan believes that information is none of your business.  Or your son's.

  2. there are also some informative people on this good michigan searching group (they also have a yahoo list thats definately a must!)  http://www.michigansearching.com

and for the laws in your area you can go here:

    http://adopteerights.net/nulliusfilius/?...

you may also want to submit a contact preference form through the agency you were adopted through. that way it will go into your first families files and if they seek info on you they'll get the form that says you want contact or medical information etc.

there is a really good bill going on in michigan right now that I urge you to get involved with. The people at www.michigansearching.com can direct you to the group thats working to support the bill. This bill would restore adoptees rights in michigan by giving them unconditional access to their currently sealed records.

They need all of the help they can get, time is of the importance, and they'll also be able to direct you to help for your search in your area :)

    good luck!

    never give up!

  3. You can ask the company for you details because by law once you turn 16 they cant denie it, unless your birth parents have requested for you not to know for whatever reason. . .

  4. You should be able to get non identifying medical info from the agency that you were adopted from.
