  1. Definately sign up to ISRR as noted above.

I do wish you all the very best with your search.

If you need any support along the way - pop on over to AAAFC Forum -

    http://www.adultadoptees.org/forum/index...

Run by adoptees - for adoptees.

  2. I wish you every success - never give up hope, despite the naysayers

sign up to this worldwide registry if you haven't already

    http://isrr.net/

Everyone deserves to know the truth of their origins.  I hope you find your truth.  I feel you will be able to because you have her name

If I come up with any ideas, I'll edit my answer

  3. Here is a group from central america, they are the closest group to colombia that I know of:

    http://probusqueda.org

I would email them and ask if they can refer you to any columbian search resources for your mother

    asociacionprobusqueda@gmail.com

  4. Ask your parents.  They should have paperwork that will tell your "story."  Odds are you will never be able to find her as many children in Central and South America are given up for adoption by women who are forced to live on the streets.

  5. All those records are controlled by the Colombian government agency Instituto Colombiano de Beinestar Familiar [usually called "ICBF" or "Bienestar"]. If you look at their web site, you will find that there is a "right to information". Web address is below

Contact the closest Colombian consulate or the Colombian embassy in Washington D.C., explain what you want to do, and ask them to assist you in submitting a request to ICBF for that information.

I have worked very closely with Bienestar and they are very conscientious and will help if their rules [tramites] allow.

Good luck - we have a daughter from Colombia and know very little about her family. The nation of Colombia has the third greatest number of displaced children in the world and it may be that even ICBF has no information - brace yourself for this possibility.
