However I need to push back my start date. Will this affect financaial aid? do i have to start for the semester i applied for. I currently live in Cattaragus County NY. The school is Jamestown Community College. Any help will be appreciated thank you!

O I do not think you can keep that money .. the money to suppose to be used for a certain time...

I would contact the school to ask about what they say. it could be different in NY

I live in a different state so I can't speak for your state, but here you can defer your acceptance to a later date.  Which means you fill out a document stating that you wish to start a semester later.  I think that if you start only 1 semester later you should be ok because it's still the same academic year.  

The best thing to do would be to call the Financial Aid department at your school and ask them exactly the same question you posted here.
