I was arrested a week ago in Canada. I have 2 Co-Accused which I've been banned from talking to...?

In the police station, I was held for 9 hours and questioned (was the last one released). During this time, my cell phone was in my property bag. I was released, but one of my co-accused is in jail for a serious crime.

The other I haven't talked to yet, but I fear to talk about the court case over the phone. It's a complicated situation.

In Canada (or Ontario if anyone knows), is it legal for them to tap my cell phone and my house phone even though I was realesed on promise to appear? Is there any way I can tell?

Please, any answers or similar experiences would be great.

Thank you.

  1. Crime does not pay, whatever your into, get out and stay out!

  2. You could always call from a pay phone.

You can buy electronic devices that will detect "bugs" on your phone line. Anyone can listen to your cell phone conversations by using a scanner.
