I was asleep and my eye was hurting so I went after it with my contact in. Is it pinkeye or just irritated?

I thought it had ripped in my eye and it was so dry that I scratched at it and peeled the contact out (ouch!) and threw it away. Meanwhile it was red for awhile and puffy and it seems to be doing better. I put some drops in for pink eye because I freaked out. Do you think I can put a new contact in tomorrow before work? Is it pinkeye or just irritated? It's not draining or anything.

Let your eyes rest for a day or so. I'm having a similar problem now. My doc gave me Pataday eye drops.
