I was bleeding... Does this mean I broke it?

Question

I am an 18 year old virgin and I have never engaged in any kind of intercourse. However, while bathing just now, I was washing my v****a and it hurt a little, and then I started bleeding quite a lot. It wasn't the period kind of blood. It looked like blood from a wound. I am really worried that I broke my hymen as I see it as very important to a girl. I tried dabbing the opening with a tissue and it's bloody. I've been crying for about 1 hour. Help please. Thanks so much.

No you didn't break your own hymen by just washing yourself. You can't even break it using tampons (even though some people may think so). You probably just scratched yourself with your nail. Whatever happened it definitely wasn't your hymen breaking.

Unless you were washing your v****a with a bottle brush there is no way that by simply washing you broke your hymen. I would guess that by your reaction you are pretty hormonal right now and you have started your period. A period flow can look like blood from a wound ie: fresh bright blood, blood looks darker when it sits in one place. Relax- you are definitely still a virgin.

Oh hope to give some comfort, Here com down, this may be just an early cycle from Mother nature, she can be evil some times. Now did if you inserted to deep yes you could of broke the hymen, but if not you are OK, Go to your female Doctor and see may be inberacing but the doctor will gladly check to see and let you know.God bless and Good for you to keep pure till marriage. read Lev 18 and see God has laws on things this world says is OK to do, read so you can see . The bible says it good to stay pure (like you are doing) Child its a good thing to know that the word if staying pure till marriage is going on in your life.

Don't worry, it's normal to break your hymen, you can break it while using a tampon. Mine was broke before I got married and started having intercourse, I don't think you should be ashamed of it at all! Broken or non broken hymen does not define whether or not your a virgin!
