I was born in America but my english is not that good?

Question

I come from an Hispanic family and I am suppose to speak both English and Spanish fluently but ever since I was little I used to have a hard time with English and writing and I still have that problem. My reports looks like a fifth grader wrote it and my brother has to keep correcting it and I feel SO embarrassed when teachers and my brother correct my paper. I was born in America and I suck! I can have a conversation of course but still...and I suck in my spanish too!! i speak at home with my mother and my family argg I'm SO made at myself and i stutter SO much because I can not figure out the words on what i want to say and I just say easy words. I need advice and sorry for the long details...

Ahh, I used to have this problem, what I would suggest is chat, chat, chat. Chat with people, they will correct you, and use the best grammar and writing possible. Or you can write stories on Microsoft Word, it will correct your mistakes and grammar, and you can learn from it. Or you can just go and get help from a touter, at school or something. English classes will help too.

please take an english class, they offer them free at some places llike community colleges of ged schools. nothing is worst than not understanding what the other person is saying, and nothing is more frustrating than trying to speak to someone who doesnt know what the h**l you are saying.

Your reports?  You mean school?  Have you considered ESOL class?  English for speakers of other languages...  I speak multiple languages including Spanish, Czech and Japanese so I volunteered in high school and now college to help ESOL students learn English better.  It's fun, and you'll get to meet people who share some of your similair frusterations.

dont be too hard on urself. it happens to a lot of us  american borns with other ethnicities. the good thing is that you are aware and willing to work on it. practice practice practice. try to talk and write spanish only at home.. accept constructive critizism from family and if you need o, get a tutor for your english.
