Question:

I was born in US but living in India for 27 yrs. Do i need any official documents to live in India?

i was born in US and have a US passport. But most part of my life i have been living in India. I have not renewed my US passport. If i need to go to US i need to renew that, but then what would i need to do to be allowed to live in India too?

  1. but you are out of status by now, do you by any chance have your family in India? do know, that if you are out of status, you will not be able to renew your US passport....it applies to residents only,

    yes you do need an official document to live in India...one cannot just live in a country without official permission, are you by any chance of Indian origin as well? if so, you are ok, if not? you will get in many problems,may i give you advice? first of all, renew your US passport,if you are leaving in India illegally? no passport, if you get caught? not sure what you will do? and how you will renew your passport? could you come back here, edit your question, with the little pencil under your question, and add if you wish? the pencil is under your question, try it, that is if you wish?

  2. if you where born in the USA then you are American. And as long as you did not reliquenish that right... then you are American.  You will need to goto an American Consulatnt  and get a new passport.

  3. I'd think you would need a visa or resident alien card like you do to live in the US.  You may want to check with the consulate.
