  1. If your birth certificate was issued in Boston you would get it from boston. I was adopted, taken at birth, and was from wheeling, wv.... I had to apply with Wheeling WV for my birth certificate even though my parents adopted me in a different city.

  2. Persons adopted in Massachusetts must petition the court in the town in which the adoption finalized in order to request a copy of their actual birth certificates.  The petition may or may not be granted.  (Non-adopted persons do not have to do this.)

You can, however, obtain a copy of your 'amended' certificate via the office of vital records.  This is their Website:

    http://www.mass.gov/?pageID=eohhs2subtop...

  3. Call Vital Records (in the government section of the phone book) in Boston.

They will give you the information you need to get your birth certificate. Sometimes you have to pay money and sometimes you have to send a letter with a signature.

However, some states have on-line ordering if you still live in that state.

Usually the cost is like $5.00.

  4. LauraDB has it exactly correct. Yeah, it's not fair, but for now that's how it is.

  5. vital records is located next to the convention center in south boston .my cost was 18$.if your papers were court sealed don't bother you'll only get a nonvalidated certificate.the only id needed was ss and licence.do not follow lauries advise about petitioning the court my sister did that and was refused even though by law they must give it to her[born prior to 1975]both parants biological deceased and adoptive deceased.the judge still sealed the record.

  6. Bureau of vital statics. You will need your date of birth, parents names (adoptive parents) There will be a fee. It will be a notarized copy. I had to send to Los Angles for mine, I was adopted in Ohio, It usually takes about a week to get them once the request is made. In my case I was able to go on line and print out the forms that were needed. One had to be notarized. Then I had to mail it (fed-ex) with a return fed-ex envelope also in-closed. Call the office in Boston and they will tell you  what information is required and what forms must be submitted.

  7. I hope you need that bith certificate for some reason other than finding out about your first parents.

Birth certificates are forged upon adoption. (Stupid, isn't it?)
