  1. yes your parents must be german first of all to get german citizenship.

    by birth in Germany

If you were born after December 31, 1999 to foreign parents in Germany.

One of the parents must have been a legal resident in Germany for at least eight years at the time of your birth.

In addition, at least one parent must have an unlimited residence permit ("unbefristete Aufenthaltserlaubnis") or a residence entitlement ("Aufenthaltsberechtigung") at the time of your birth

If you obtain another citizenship by birth, you have to give up one citizenship between ages 18 and 23.

    Please note:

Most US military personnel are in Germany for a period considerably shorter than 8 years; they neither have residence permits nor entitlements because of bilateral agreements.

In most cases therefore children born to US military personnel do not have the right to German citizenship (unless they had a German parent at the time of their birth)

so you are an US citizen.unless your parents are not US citizen?

    are they not?

    where are your parents from?

if you are in the US? either your parents took citizenship later on ?

you have the citizenship of your parents.

  2. Well how did they bring you over to America then? If you have ever owned a passport that's proof of your nationality you hold. If you went on your parents.. oops.

Whatever nationality your parents held when you were born would be what you automatically qualify for. You'd need to formalize that by going to the embassy and getting your birth certificate and you're parents' paperwork required.

  3. if your parents were american when you were born even though they were working/traveling in germany you are an american citizen go to your local court house and talk to someone there they'll send you in the right direction

  4. You are a stateless person when you were born but you can become US citizen by naturalization.

  5. What nationality were your parents?

  6. Find your birth certificate that should clear up the problem.

  7. Surely you know.  You probably inherited citizenship from one or both of your parents.  Check your passport.

  8. The German people are great and if you were born there, looking for a family and wanted to live there I'm sure these great people would arrange it.
