  1. why?

  2. either one i'd imagine. you can always call first and make sure.

  3. You need to go to the nearest Provincial Court, and fill out a name change application. Not all new names are allowed.

  4. You need to call vital statistics in Victoria  see the blue pages in your phone book

  5. First of all, you do not go to the City Hall to change your name, you have to do this through the Provincial Government, Department of Vital Statistics.  They will send you the necessary forms and the necessary instructions.  This is done as your birth records must be changed.  Their website is http://www.vs.gov.bc.ca/

Just click on the Legal Change of Name link and it will take you to the correct page which has all of the necessary information for changing your name including the forms and procedures.

  6. probably your local court.

  7. i would imagine you go to the one you are currently living in

as some people do not live near their place of birth

they will tell you how to do it

including advertising in the newspaper about your name change, that used to be how they did it anyway

  8. You don't go to city hall.  It is looked after by the Province.  As you were born in BC, you deal with BC Vital Statistics.

You can check it out online, and get an application, then go directly to their office at

    605 Robson Street, VANCOUVER
