they were asking for $700 for these mixed puppies that were registered, I'm really confused about the registered part. since when do you register mixed dogs, I'm sure the pups are adorable but are these people for real?

  1. They charge more for mutts

  2. Continental Kennel Club will register mix breed puppies.  It is a worthless piece of paper.  Try looking in shelters in your area or on petfinder for your puppy.  Please don't reward a BYB by purchasing a mixed breed puppy from them.

  3. i think you get anything registered anymore if you don't care what kind of registry.

maybe they think since both parents are registered that the puppies are.  but the puppies are mutts no matter how you look at it.

another thought, maybe they are selling both kinds.  you would have to call and check if they are selling mixed or two different litters.

  4. People think that if it's something special, they can register it with some c**p registry and charge a ridiculous amount for their irresponsibility's.

Any mixed breed dog is only worth an adoption fee...a CKC registration (or the like) isn't worth the paper its printed on.

People are just looking for an easy way to make money and don't care how.

Add: Registries like CKC and other "pet" registries would register a rat if you told them it was a chiweenie.  :)

  5. Stick a fancy price, and a fancy name of a miss mated litter of puppies, and some idiots will pay through the nose because they think they are getting something new and elitist.     Puppy farmers have cottoned on to this.  So once their bi tches are to old to legally breed from, they then start breeding these "designer dogs".  And register them with any organization they can.

It does not make then any more than the mongrels they are.   And as they are usually from bi tches that have been bred almost to death, to any dog that is available, with neither parent  been health screened. they will almost certainly have genetic problems.

The other possibility is that someone though their doggie was sooooo cute they simply had to let her have little cute babies.  So they got together with a friend who also has a little cute doggie.    When they were mated they came on YA asking for what they should do now.   Were told what folk think of this sort of stupid reason for breeding so went off in the huff.   But still think their little cute mongrels should fetch pedigree prices.   Again because they are mixing breeds that do share some similar genetic faults, whoever buys them is probably in for vet bills.

If someone really wants a totaly unique "designer dog".  they should go to a shelter and pick a puppy.  It will have been checked to see that it is healthy, probably neutered or spayed.  And not cost anything near $700.   And they can then get to know their new dog, and choose their own unique designer dog label for him or her.
