I searched that site and the internet but all I get is recipes that call for "subzi". Does anyone know what it is?

Thanks!

  1. subzi means vegetable...

    :D im indiann

  2. Subji or Subzi means vegetables, usually use whatever you have at home.  This sounds like a "sambhar" recipe, use your favorites!  Actually, the great thing about Indian cooking is the flexibility, any vegetable will work or any combination of veggies.

  3. subzi means vegetable in Hindi.  If the recipe calls for 2 tsp of "subzi blend", it means a pre-made mix of spices that are for vegetables.  In Hindi, a spice-mixture is called masala.

If you go to an Indian grocery store, you can find boxes of 'subzi masala' spice mixtures.  Please note that sometimes subzi is spelled: sabzi, subji, or sabji.

    Good luck!
