Question:

I was cited and I want to know my options...?

okay, so I was making a turn on a yellow turning to red, and i was tboned by a guy going the opposite way. My mom in the passanger seat was the only witness and because she has a vested interest in me, her statement is pretty much null and void. Anyways, the conclusion from the report says "D1 turned left in front of an oncoming vehicle, in violation of VC 21801 (a). D1 was issued a citation per VC 40600(a) for the above listed violation." - I believe it is failing to yield to oncoming traffic and/or making an illegal left turn. I live in CA by the way and the ticket is in the mail.

So my questions are...

If I go to court to fight it (the other guy was unlicensed), would I have to pay court costs?

What will the fine likely be for the ticket?

If I took it to court, could my mom be a witness that actually counts?

I've heard that often times going to court can get your ticket reduced, is this true?

Could traffic school be an option?

Thanks.

  1. For your questions.

    1. Yes you would still have to pay court costs unless waived by the Judge.

    2. The fine differs from state to state. In my state FL that would cost around $96.00

    3. Yes your mom can be a witness if you take this to Court.

    4. No going to court cannot get your ticket reduced.

    5. Trafffic School would be an option and that would be the only way to get it reduced. If that is what the Judge orders.

  2. Contact an attorney. That's the surest way to get it off your record, though it won't be free.

  3. call a layur

  4. I'm guessin you were making a left hand turn. You have to yield to oncoming traffic.

You are done. His status is of no never mind and I'm sure he was cited as well for no license...........

  5. a yellow turning to red means slow down and prepare to stop. the other driver still had the green so it's your at fault, your going to court to beat the ticket? how do you expect to do that?, your 100% responsible for the accident and you rates will go up.
