I would really like to know how good their transportation service is for folks without a car? do the buses and trains run for a long period of time? I would also like to know is the downtown area fun and and is there plenty to do in the the city?

I live in Atlanta and I'm getting tired of it. Would you recommend me to live in Denver or stay in Atlanta? mind you, I really hate Atlanta.

Only folks from Denver to answer my question please or people who live there.

  1. Denver's good. Weather is relatively pleasant. Plenty to do in the downtown area and it's usually hoppin', especially on the weekends. Bars close at 2:00 a.m. tho.  I've always had a car, so limited info on buses, but I know I always seem to end up behind one! Light rail is nice if you're going where it goes. Working on expanding the system, but it will be awhile. Tons of outdoor activities if you're into that. Hiking, climbing, camping, fishing, etc.

Try a visit to the area first if you can. Stay away during the Democratic National Convention though. That should be NUTS.

I think ERRRRR... meant THIN air. It's 5280 feet.

  2. I would definitely recommend moving from Atlanta to Denver. Colorado is a beautiful state, and the mountains there are beautiful. There are plenty of places to go to near Denver, including the Rocky Mountain National Park.

  3. I live in Colorado Springs which is 60 miles south of Denver but go to Denver regularly.  The city recently finished a light rail that runs from the Denver Tech Center, along 1-25 north to Invesco Field and the Pepsi Center.  If you live and work along that line then you have it made.  The bus system is better then average but not as good as many east coast cities but there is no subway system.  Denver has several areas of town with a lot of restaurants and clubs, they have recently revitalized the areas surrounding Coors Field, they are trying to turn it into the cool, hip place to be.  Denver has one large art museum and many galleries, if you are into that and a natural history museum but they have nothing on may east and west coast cities.  What you give up in culture you gain in outdoor activities.  If you are a beach person you won't get that here.  I love to travel but I am always happy to return to Colorado, I love it here, it is beautiful and has a slower pace of life then many places I have been.  I hope this helps you in making you decision.

  5. Denver is a great place to live, with the friendly people, fun nightlife, beautiful scenery and the "big city" title, it's great.

RTD (the transit system) is pretty effective and reliable, it operates a relatively new light rail system, which is good if it goes where you are, and a great bus system. Visit http://rtd-denver.com/ for more details.

As far as moving goes visit first and see what you think (just don't come August 23rd through the 31st because of the DNC).

Denver is a great city, and I think you are making a good choice.

  6. I do live in Denver. Its a nice place with manny attractions. Honestly if you move hear take the first week off so you can adjust to the thick air. It can be tough but its beautifiul. Hope to see u around.
