Meaning, where would I start looking to find out information about price range, manufacturer, etc... Is this even a good idea?

  1. You could Google, "electric car kit" for a conversion kit, but you might as well be trying to convert a tank.

Electric conversion kits are for light cars like a Fiero or a VW.

  2. Bill Brant's book has all you need to spec your conversion, eg what speed/range you require & cost

    http://www.amazon.com/Build-Your-Own-Ele...

there is also a Yahoo diy-ev group http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/diy_...

if you are in the UK join http://www.batteryvehiclesociety.org.uk/...

  3. You're talking heavy metal here ! And I'm sure it will cost more than the car is worth. It will be in the thousands. And then you have to find someone who would know how to attempt such a task. Good idea ? Not for the car in question. Maybe a 71 Pinto.
