The cop pulled me over for speeding but did not cite me on that charge. He just cited me a fix it ticket for not having proof of insurance in my car. I am insured and have a card to prove it. I am a minor in California. Will I have to go to court on my date or can I do it earlier? What will happen to my record? What will I have to go through? thanks

  1. Just take the proof of insurance to the costumer service at the Cort ( were thy pay the tickets at) and show them and it will be dismiss and will not go on your record. Do this any time before your Cort date.

word of advice do not mail it go to the Cort house if it gets lost in the mail or you did not give all the information thy will not tell you and you thinking it is all OK, will have a warrant put out on you that day.

  2. Usually, if you can provide proof that you did indeed have insurance at the time you were pulled over, the charge should be dismissed.

I think mailing a photocopied copy of your insurance card or policy--something that shows the issue date--should be sufficient.

And in the future, keep the insurance card in your car.
