Hello,

Due to various reasons in my personal life and mostly problems at the workplace I was forced to quit my job about 3 weeks ago. I have called all of my credit card company's and told them that I have no money and I can't pay them and chances are not looking good for me to find another job! I have since moved in with my mother and I have no vehicle or no home of my own. My question is this, I know that I cannot be harassed by any of the bill collectors and that I cannot go to jail, but can they do anything else? They keep calling my moms landline and demanding that they speak to me even after she has told them numerous times to quit calling because it is her line and not mine and I don't see how they even got her number in the first place!

I have really been emotionally distraught lately about everything I feel that I am in no condition to work right now either so can the company's do anything to me or my family? I am really worried. When I open the bills that they keep sending now with all the late fees and finance default charges tackled on I would have to pay $1,300 a month just for the minimums and I just don't know what to do!

If they sue me what would happen? I know they can see and get a judgment for my property but I own nothing, no car, no house, no land, so what would happen? Please help, Thanks!

  1. You quit your job voluntarily or?  You should start finding another job and collect your ei at the same time.

  2. Ok my answer may sound a bit rude, but I assure you I am not being rude, just real, kinda like tough love. So that being said, what the heck are you doing running your credit cards up that high?

Secondly, you should've tried to stay a bit longer at the old job. You could put up your applications on all the job sites. You could also call a recruiter and speak to them about a job you could get. Craigslist has many job postings. Worst case scenario work at a mc donalds temporarily to relieve you with the payments. Any job is better than no job. Goodluck.

  3. You could end up with fraud charges, it depends on who you stole money from and how much you are trying to get away with stealing.   You absolutely can go to jail for committing fraud, it is absurd to think that you can't.

The judgements can be applied to your SSN and your wages garnished once you have a job.   It sounds like they will have to do that, you are refusing to repay the money you took.

I am not sure why you think they credit card companies and collection agencies can not call you, they certainly can.

Get yourself another job.   "oh poor pitiful me" is not an excuse for not working.
