  1. What you have in your hand is a post-dated check. You can't cash it until the date on the check - if you try, it may bounce, but hopefully the bank won't allow you to cash it before the date on it.

  2. You may have to wait, the person may not have money in their account until that date.

  3. It is a post-dated check. The bank will not allow you to cash it until the date written on it. Most banks won't even hold post-dated checks. So you'll have to wait...

  4. Yes, wait until the date on the

    check arrives before cashing it.

A check dated like that means

the money isn't in the bank to

cover it, but will be after the

    date of the check.

  5. ye you can only cash it on or after the date it says.

  6. ahhh I hate post dated cheques, you cant cash that until the date!!

    annoying isnt it!?!?!

  7. Post dated cheques no longer have meaning within the UK banking systems.  The date really is only a protection for the person who is writing them, as a cheque in the UK is only valid for 6 months after the date of writing it.

If you wish to deposit a cheque that has a future date on it then you have 2 ways of doing it.  1st way would be to go to the quick deposit station that you fill in the deposit slip and post it using the envelope provided within the bank, this way your cheque is not refused by a bank teller that is having a bad day.  The other way is to pay it in over the counter, but this way the teller might refuse your dsposit as they don't know that they can.

  8. As i recall, postdating cheques is illegal in the UK.

Some banks will put it through their system without looking at the date while others will simply refuse it until the date on the cheque.  It may be that whoever has written the cheque is waiting for their wages to go in at the end of the month so that the funds are there for you.  If it's not too big a deal for you to wait, then i suggest you do this.
