I was given a serape from the 1930's. I want to display it. What is the best way to do this artfully?

I want to hang it on the wall but more like a museum piece than something cheap. Any suggestions?

Thanks

  1. Get a long curtain rod in wood ( maybe paint it the same colour)  and place it over it and hang it on a large wall so that is the first thing you would see when you enter the room. So one side of the serape is on the back and you really only see the front of it.  Attach the poles with wires around it and hang it on the wall on well secured hooks that have anchors in them that you can get at the hardware store.  The anchors really keep it in place and make sure the anchors are in the wooden frame of the drywall to ensure that it will hold.  You can rent or buy something called a stud sensor to find the wooden studs to secure it to.  good luck.  It sounds lovely and will make quite a statement in your home.

  2. if you want to protect it from dust and bugs and critters, have it put in a large shadow box (there is a price, but you're dealing with something that is over 70 years old, dust causes mold causes decay, moths ants and other creepy crawlers make meals out of wool)
