Does anyone know if my license will be taken away, or how much my fine will go up? I hope insurance won't go through the roof!

  1. You wont go to jail and if you don't want points so your insurance goes high postpone the court date a few times and also get a lawyer because you rather pay the maximum fine than pay more for your insurance in payments over a long period, If its only your first time unless you have to go to court don't worry just pay your ticket and wait 3 years till your points go away.

  2. Your license won't get taken away, but you will get hit with points.

It's nice that you don't want your insurance to go through the roof, but maybe you should think about such things before you go speeding.

  3. Learn the lesson!  Speed limits are there for a purpose, and even if you're only doing 8 mph over the limit, you're still breaking the law.  Sorry it's a harsh reply, but you're very young and you don't want to get into bad habits that will cost you dearly over the next 60 years of your driving life.

  4. since it was less that 10 mph over the posted limit you should only get a fine and 3 points on your license, next time pay attention to what you are doing, it will come off in a year, but you insurance may go up a bit, check to see if your state has school programs for reducing tickets for taking the class, usually that costs 60 bucks,

  5. The cop must have been bored to death to give you a ticket for only 8 mph over the limit.

There will be a fine - probably @ $125 and there will be one point against your licence and your insurance shouldn't go up because of this ticket... but I think this depends on what state you're in. This information is based on North Carolina law.

  6. Was the ticket for speeding or for blocking traffic by going only 63?

Seriously, adults with full licenses do not lose them for going 63 in a 55 once.  However, you might lose your license, at least temporarily, if either (a) it is a restricted or provisional license, or (b) your state is stricter with 17-year-olds than with adults.
