However, the dealer charged us $100 for delivery, $200 for setup and required a calibration for $300. Adding on, he even said that we should get a power surge of $200 to make sure our tv lasts longer. Our problem is, how can they charge so much extra fees?! Is calibration really required and reccommended?

  1. yes no maybe so

  2. Calibration isn't necessary but it's not a bad idea either. $300 is excessive though (I don't think Best Buy has ISF certified technicians doing this). You can purchase Digital Video Essentials for $20 and do it yourself (professional calibration would be better but this dvd should get you close). $200 for setup sounds high as well unless they are mounting the tv to the wall in which case $200 is more than reasonable. Hooking up the wires, you can do yourself. You and a friend should be able to table mount the tv. It is heavy but should only need to be lifted once.

  3. You might want to reconsider what you purchase what you purchase at "Best" Buy!

IF you ever take it back, they will charge you a restocking fee and it's not cheap!

You could have purchased the same television on line for hundreds of dollars cheaper!

As for the power surge protection, sound to me you are getting taken more for a ride more than sitting down to watch TV.
