we live in CT .. and i wanted to plan a huge (about 100 people) suprise luau for his 21st birthday... only problem it isnt until sept 25th (thurs.) and i was planning on like the 27th (sat) BUT silly me was thinking ... WILL IT BE TOO COLD? bc i want it to start at like 1 - 2 o'clock, but i want it to go until like really late lol .. and it will be outside.. ? i'm sure people could bring like a sweater if it gets cold, but is it stupid to have a luau in late sept?

  1. I agree with taking it indoors if it starts to get too cold. Also have activities going on inside too. If it does get too cold, you can eventually cut off the party outside. Summer is starting to last a bit longer, so I wouldn't worry too much.

Another alternative would be tiki torches, a bon fire and/or outside heaters. Maybe have fire dancers & poi spinners as an added attraction.

  2. I'm not sure over there but the Indian Summer tends to fall in the later part of Sept. through early Oct. often. If so, then you can still have that then. Maybe make the earlier part of the day in the outdoors for that and then later when the sun is setting or close to dusk move it indoors as an option then. If the weather doesn't behave have the  basement area set up for such and use that as a scenic way to provide atmosphere. IF you get the basement or rec room theme to look like this then you can have it indoors in bad weather or if the day turns out colder than expected, it'd feel like you're at one if the room reflects the look of that anyway this day also.

  3. I would definitely have a back up plan...Like rent a hall so you can go inside if needed...Sept. is a risky month and is usually on the chilly side..You can still do a luau just do it inside...more people will be apt to come and stay. I know I wouldn't stay long if the party was outside, even with a sweater it would be cold.

  4. why dont u have it the week before??

it shouldnt be all that cold in sept.

    good luck :)
