  1. No but the hospital may reduce the bill and set up a payment plan.

  2. No, but a friend was a while ago.  A nurse told him that he should try to apply for medicaid.  She said that sometimes medicaid will pick up a portion of the bill.  I'm sure there are a lot of variables involved, but why not try.

  3. Have you seen the movie SICKO?  Go rent it!

  4. There are a lot of people in this postition. It's unfortunate. Hospitals are very difficult to deal with, but if you are of very low income you can negotiate a settlement where you will only owe them 30-50% of the bill. This is the one situation where many people feel that bankruptcy is a viable solution for some people, although it is not to be taken lightly. I really feel your pain in this situation, and urge you to just take care of yourself and keep your basic needs paid for first. The hospital will have to go without or wait, so don't let them or their collectors ever bully you into putting them before your own basic welfare.

I suggest you call Dave Ramsey's people (daveramsey.com) and ask for some volunteer counseling on dealing with your situation.

  5. my son was biten by a chow. 600 stiches in his face and 40,000 bill instantly. they cannot do anything adverse to you if you dont have it ...everyone else lies.. it there is no one to sue with insurance coverage then its five bucks a week till they harasse you then **** them. I tell them if you would like to charge it of instead of taking my five bucks do us both hte favor. the stop harassing. When u do pay show up to the hospitals bill pay in person. Sooner or later they will slow reduce some of the bill cause the bill collector know the hosipitals numbers and work for peanuts too, they really end up being on your side if you give them a FACE to remember!

  6. I am sorry to hear about your situation.  Check for programs in your community that might help you with that bill.  The hospital may know who to put you in touch with.  You can also claim to be an illegal alien, that should get you off the hook!!  LOL.....just kidding about the illegal alien thing.
